I don’t know why - maybe it’s because it seems to be taboo for a man to say (and anymore, not much is off limits) but for some reason I’m obsessively drawn to using the word “vagina” in casual conversation.  Keep in mind, I don’t get to do it very often because I’m not an asshole.  But, if I were an asshole and didn’t care about offending my coworkers or possibly getting fired, I’d be dropping the V word constantly.

Think about it - what shocks people anymore?  Is there a word that jolts folks to attention the way fuck used to?  Cock sucker gets some play, but it seems so boring - it’s just crass for crass’ sake.  But vagina is off-limits to guys on so many levels that it’s intriguing when used.  Think about it - it’s not directly offensive to anyone, unless you use it as an insult.  Oprah has coined a special nickname for the word, so it doesn’t have to be uttered on her show.  It’s a clinical word, but why on Earth would any man have a reason to use the word.  At least for now, Vagina gets people’s attention and while women can be offended by it’s use out of context, it’s not inherently offensive to women and that’s why “vagina” is my linguistic obsession du jour.
